Call your state Senator

Last spring, members of the Pennsylvania state House passed our mandatory overtime bill with strong bi-partisan support. Nurses in Pennsylvania have spent six years working on this bill--knocking on doors, making phone calls and meeting with state legislators.

With support in the Pennsylvania House secured, we now have our eyes on the state Senate. Both Democratic and Republican members of the Senate have indicated their support for the bill. We’ve worked a long time to win passage of a ban on mandatory overtime, and we’re closer to winning than every before.

RNs in Pennsylvania are calling the code. Please call your state Senator right now and urge him or her to press the Labor and Industry Committee to vote on the bill and send it to the Senate floor.

Here's an example of what you could say on the call:

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a nurse in your district.  I’m calling because right now HB 834 is before the Senate Labor and Industry Committee.  This bill would end mandatory overtime for nurses in Pennsylvania, which will help protect patients and nurses.  Please tell your colleagues on the Committee to vote on the bill and send it to the Senate floor for approval.

Once you've made your call use this form to tell us how it went.
